Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 is the newest version from the popular Kaspersky Internet Security series, Kaspersky is a well known player in the computer security business and has already prevented thousands of computers from getting infected by malicious code (also called viruses). Their newest internet security suite is improved over their 2010 version and protects the user against numerous computer threats including:

  • Spyware
  • Adware
  • Trojan horses
  • Keyloggers
  • Hackers/Intruders (through their firewall)
  • Sensitive files

And much more.

Kaspersky Compared To Other Security Suites

I have been a user of a lot internet security suites and can honestly say that Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 is the best internet security suite I have encountered in a very long while. Until I tried Kaspersky I had been using AVG Internet Security and I must say that I like Kaspersky a lot more. The critical files scan is incredibly fast and Kaspersky IS 2011 has also prevented me from visiting malicious sites a couple of times. They have also included a few handy utilities that not all internet security suites include such as deletion of sensitive files and a fine utility that searches your computer for programs that are known for possible security leaks. This last utility however, takes a very, very long time to scan your computer and thus I do not recommend you to use this utility (over two hours)

Features that make Kaspersky stand out from the crowd:

There are numerous features that make Kaspersky a unique piece of software among the security market, a couple of those features include a desktop gadget which shows your computer's security status, a very nice and flashy interface with a very stylish big button on it, a couple of (maintenance) utilities that not all security suites include and a special gaming mode (for better gaming performance).

Negative factors of Kaspersky Internet Security 2011:

Like all software Kaspersky IS 2011 has a negative side too, a few annoying things include:

  •  The trial version of this software reminds you multiple times a day that you are using a trial version, using quite irritating pop-ups.
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 features a heuristic real time scanner which tends to find a lot of false positives, which are files it reports as badware while they are, in fact, perfectly safe files.
  • It's hard to add files (such as false positives) as exclusions, Kaspersky can keep putting these files in quarantine, even though you've already added the file in question to your exclusions.

Overall Kaspersky IS 2011 is a great piece of software, which tends to be so paranoid that it reports a lot of safe files as dangerous.
