What does "J" mean at the end of a sentence? Is it like a :) or :P face?

It is a smiley face. It starts out that way and then from machine to machine it can get messed up depending on the font it started with. If it started out as a smiley face using the wingding font, it can end up as the letter J at the other end. Some versions of Outlook express can change this character as well.

It is a common typo. When you extend your pinky finger to reach the enter key there is a tendency to press down a little on the index finger. The ancor key for the right hand is the letter "J" so when you reach for the enter key and press down with the index finger you end up with an extra j.
