Computer Problem / Urgent / Can You Help?

Hi, I went to eat Christmas dinner with family. I had minimized all my applications and closed the monitor lid on the computer. When I came back and opened it turned it back on the browsers seemed to be stuck or in slow motion. I got them all closed and then clicked restart. The computer then went to a black screen asking to either start WIndows normally or a Restore Startup. I clicked Restore Startup, it ran. It finished and there was only the screen light on. I waited. No change. I did a hard reboot. Nothing but the screen light. I unplugged it and took the battery out and waited. Put the battery back in and plugged it back in. It ask the same to questions. This time, I chose start windows normally. Same results as before. I have no idea how to make the screen come back on. I have the battery out and it is unplugged. I am using daughter's friends notebook. Tiny thing. Is there anyone who can tell me how to make the screen come back on. It is a rented computer. Thanks. :)

Assuming your BIOS is still posting, just reinstall your OS. Sorry not enough information has been or can be provided to solve the problem itself.

What is the brand of the notebook? My husband accepts laptop and desktop repairs and same problem usually occurs in acer notebook with Vista system.  Anyway, at least they have restored it.  I hope they did not charge you extra :)

Try to see if you can boot the computer from a disc or from a flash drive
