9 days?? hey i am hearing this for a first time. but science has proved that there is no concepts like these exists. we all have different opions about these kind of stuffs, mainly we struggle to find out exact answers for these because of lack of proper research. these kind of topics will always up for debate.

When talking about "Life after Death" and paranormal activities, the first prerequisite is to keep Science aside as if you try to think about it scientifically then this is where the Laws of Physics will fail. I personally very much believe in souls and after-life due to strong evidence and knowledge from my friends, relatives and surroundings. In our Islam they say that the soul stays near the loved ones for 40 days before permanantly departing from materialistic world. In these 40 days we can have several glimpses of the person around the house and in the dreams. It happened this way when my grandfather had passed away. If the person was very unhappy or had a strong unfulfilled wish or strong bond of love with someone then that soul is bound to have a connection with real world for a long period of time. It is a period in which we should pray for the soul and should keep the house and especially the residing place of that person very clean and holy...and nothing ill should be spoken about that person that might hurt his/her soul...

Since my fiance passed away almost a year ago, I was curious.  Here is a link that explains it according to the Catholic faith. http://www.fisheaters.com/novenas.html.  Some religions refer to up to 49 days. It all has to do with mourning, burial, etc traditions, depending on the religious culture. Some believe the soul travels the earth for a specific time period before they cross over to the other side. Others believe that some souls get stuck in this dimension. As for me, I know that Michael still comes home periodically.
