What Is Strep Throat?

Hi, my child has strep throat symptoms. I am very worried. How to treat the disease? Do I have to see a doctor?

If you have not already been to a doctor, how are you able to say that your child has strep throat for sure? Many sicknesses immitate strep throat. I am assuming your child has sore throat, fever, difficulty swallowing, etc. -Common 'strep' factors.

If you child has say, just a sore throat, this is usually a sign of a virus, not bacterial 'strep throat' even tbough "sore throat" and sudden/rapid onset of fever are two of the most noted symptoms of strep.

Highly contagious for 24-48 hours, an infected individual should remain home from school or work esle they risk the health of non-infected. Untreated, strep can lead to more serious health complications. Rx usually prescribd is a common anti-bacterial such as amoxicillin and is highly effective.

But to alleviate the short-term discomfort of strep throat, acetaminophen can be given for pain/aches/fever and to help with any sore/dry throat complaints, hard candy, lozengines or ice cold freezie/popsicle treats.

Go see a doctor. Never take medical advice from an online forum. You do not know who is giving the advice, or what qualifications said person has.
