My top plug of my receptacles is dedicated to holiday lighting
controlled by a single pole switch. The lights remain on, cannot
turn off. Switch is OK. Someone told me that when I recently
replaced a receptacle in the line, I failed to snip the metal tab.
There are two tabs one on each side. Which one do I snip??
The brass side, where the black and/or red wires are connected.
Take off the switch cover plate and look, the 2 screws on the
switch should either have a red and black, or 2 black wires
connected to them. Look at my recent article about this.
